What we store

When you join the waitlist, we keep:

• Your email address.
• The handle you asked us to hold, if you chose one. Holding a handle is a request, not a promise: we’ll try to keep it for you at launch.
• A scrambled version of your IP address. It’s turned into a code that can’t be turned back into the address, and we use it only to stop people from flooding the form. We don’t keep your actual IP address, and the codes are deleted every hour (none is kept for more than two hours).
• Where you came from, if the link you followed said so (for example, a link we shared on Instagram), and when you joined.

Why

To send you one email when Heek is on the App Store, and to hold the handle you asked for. Nothing else. We don’t sell or share your email, we don’t send newsletters, and we don’t use it for ads.

Where it’s kept

On our database provider’s servers in Frankfurt, in the EU (Supabase). The website itself is hosted by Vercel. When we choose a service to send the launch email, it will receive your email address only for that.

How long

When Heek is on the App Store, we send you one email. If you asked for a handle, we keep your request for 30 days after that email. If you sign up in the app with the same email in that time, we’ll try to give it to you, unless someone else already has it or it’s been added to the reserved list since. After those 30 days, any hold is released and everything we keep about you on the waitlist, email and handle included, is deleted. You can ask us to remove it sooner at any time.

Removing your details

Email hello@theheek.com from the address you signed up with and say you’d like to be removed. We’ll delete your email and any held handle, and confirm within 30 days. You can also ask us what we hold about you.
